Imagine you are swimming along peacfully with your pod. Suddenly, nets are thrown around you. Your trapped in
an enviroment that you don't know with at least seven other orcas. This is the tale of Finna, one of the whales sent to the
Vancouver Aquarium with Bjossa, who was her tank-mate.
Finna, the male orca at the Vancouver Aquarium, was special.
He was one of the orcas in captivity that had a flopped dorcel, making him reconizable from a distance. The 3-year-old Michelle
(Kikia) nicknamed him "Finna-Willy" after seeing Finna up close and after watching "Free Willy" about a billion times.
The 8-year-old Damien, Michelle's cousin, came all the way from Finland just to see this
incredible orca that his baby cousin had nicknamed. The three kids, Damien, Benjamin (Damien's brother) and Michelle all vowed
to love orcas until lthe day they died.
Sadley, all good things have to come to an end. In October of 1997, Finna died of a infection
on one of his pectoral fins. "Finna-Willy" will always be remembered as an insparation.
After Finna died, Bjossa, his tankmate, was moved to Seaworld Calafornia where she then
died in October of 2001.
